Conservation Act 1987

Specially protected areas

19: Conservation parks

You could also call this:

"Rules to protect and enjoy conservation parks"

When you visit a conservation park, you want to know it is being looked after. The park is managed to protect its natural and historic resources. It is also managed to let you enjoy the park and have fun.

A committee can be set up to help advise the Minister on how to manage the park. The Governor-General can make rules about how the committee is formed and what it does. These rules can apply to all conservation parks or just some of them.

The rules made under this section are called secondary legislation (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements). These rules help manage conservation parks. They are important for keeping the parks safe and fun for you to visit.
