New Zealand Conservation Authority and Conservation Boards - Conservation Boards

6R: Term of office of members of Boards

You could also call this:

"How long you can be on a Conservation Board"

When you are a member of a Conservation Board, you hold office for a term that is up to three years. The Minister decides how long your term will be. You can be reappointed when your term ends. If you are a member of a Board, the Minister can remove you from office if you go bankrupt, cannot do your job, neglect your duties, or behave badly. You can resign from the Board at any time by writing to the Minister. If a member of a Board dies, resigns, or is removed, the Minister must fill the empty position. The Minister fills the position in the same way it was filled originally, or in a way set out in section 6P(2) or section 6P(8). A new member appointed to fill an empty position holds office for the rest of the term of the person who left. You stay in office until a new member is appointed to replace you, even if your term has ended.
