51J: Buying or selling fish for purpose of sale contrary to Act

You could also call this:

"Don't buy or sell fish caught in New Zealand if it breaks the rules"

You cannot buy or sell sports fish that were taken in New Zealand. You also cannot buy or sell freshwater fish that were taken in New Zealand if this was done in a way that breaks the rules in Part 5B or any other regulations made under this Act. Some other rules, like Section 26ZQ(2) and (3), also apply to this section.

If you break these rules, you can get in trouble for committing an infringement offence. This means you did something wrong and now you have to face the consequences. You have to follow the rules when buying or selling fish in New Zealand.

You must comply with the law when it comes to buying or selling fish. If you do not comply, you will commit an offence. The law is in place to protect fish and the environment in New Zealand.
