Conservation Act 1987

Freshwater fisheries - Various restrictions relating to fishing and aquatic life

26ZN: Fishing rights not to be sold or let

You could also call this:

"You can't sell or rent out the right to fish in freshwater, with some exceptions."

If you sell or let someone fish in freshwater, you are breaking the law. You do this when you give someone the right to fish in freshwater for money. The law does not count some things as selling or letting fishing rights, such as selling fishing rights on a licensed fish farm.

If a Minister gives a concession to a sports fishing guide, this is not selling or letting fishing rights. You are also allowed to charge people for guiding them while they fish. The law says you must not sell or let someone fish in freshwater, but it does make some exceptions.
