Conservation Act 1987

Control of dogs

26ZT: Areas excluded from open dog areas

You could also call this:

“Places where you can't take your dog in open areas”

An open dog area cannot include certain places. You cannot take your dog to areas declared under section 18 for wilderness, ecological, or sanctuary areas. These areas are protected.

You also cannot take your dog to reserves classified under the Reserves Act 1977 as national reserves, scenic reserves, nature reserves, or scientific reserves. These reserves have special rules to protect them.

Some other areas are also off-limits to dogs, such as the Sugar Loaf Islands Marine Protected Area and areas declared as wildlife sanctuaries, refuges, or management reserves under the Wildlife Act 1953. You need to check the rules for each area before taking your dog there. These rules help keep the environment and wildlife safe.
