Conservation Act 1987

Control of dogs

26ZZ: Notification of discussion document

You could also call this:

"The government shares a plan to control dogs and asks for your thoughts on it."

When the Minister wants to talk about a new idea for controlling dogs, they make a discussion document. The Minister tells the public about this document according to the rules in section 49(1). The Minister also sends a copy of the document to regional councils, territorial authorities, and iwi authorities. You can find out where and when to look at the document because the Minister's notice will say this.

The notice will also ask people who are interested to send in their thoughts about the document to the Director-General. You have to send in your thoughts before a certain date, which will be at least 40 working days after the notice is published. This gives you time to think about the ideas in the document and write down what you think.
