Immigration Act 2009

Visas - Classes of visa - Transit visas

91: Expiry of transit period

You could also call this:

“How an immigration officer can change or end your transit period”

If you are a transit passenger, an immigration officer can make decisions about your transit period before it ends. They have complete control over these decisions. The officer can do two things:

  1. They can make your transit period longer than what the rules usually allow.

  2. They can give you a visa and let you enter the country.

The normal length of a transit period is set by different rules. The immigration officer can change this if they want to.
