Immigration Act 2009

Offences, penalties, and proceedings - Offences

346: Impersonation

You could also call this:

“It's illegal to pretend to be an immigration or refugee officer”

You commit an offence against the Immigration Act 2009 if you pretend to be an immigration officer or a refugee and protection officer when you are not one. This means if you act like you are one of these officials, but you don’t actually have that job, you are breaking the law. It’s important to be honest about who you are and not try to fool others by saying you have a role that you don’t really have.
