Visas - Classes of visa - Temporary entry class visas: provisions applying to all types

77: Currency and nature of temporary entry class visa

You could also call this:

“Temporary entry visas: how long they last and what you can do with them”

A temporary entry class visa can be given to you until a certain date, until a specific event happens, or for a set amount of time.

If you have a temporary entry class visa, you can travel to New Zealand and ask for entry permission. You can ask for this before or after you travel to New Zealand. If you get entry permission, you can stay in New Zealand while your visa is valid, as long as you follow the visa’s rules.

You can only travel to New Zealand if your travel matches the rules of your visa about travel.

With a temporary entry class visa, you can work in New Zealand or in its exclusive economic zone only if your visa allows it and you follow the rules. You can study in New Zealand only if your visa allows it and you follow the rules.
