382Chief executive to designate immigration control areas
The chief executive may designate the following places in New Zealand as immigration control areas:
- all or any part of the area of an airport:
- all or any part of the area of a port:
- any other place that the chief executive considers appropriate for processing people arriving in and departing from New Zealand.
The chief executive must give written notice of a designation under this section to—
- the operator of the airport or port concerned; or
- the person otherwise in control of the place (being an owner, occupier, lessee, or sublessee).
The chief executive must also publicly notify any designation under this section by making available a description of the designated area or place, free of charge, at—
- offices of the Department; and
- New Zealand Government offices overseas that deal with immigration matters.
