“Special rules to help switch from the old immigration law to the new one”

The government can make special rules to help change from the old immigration law to the new one. These rules are called immigration instructions. They are meant to make sure the change happens smoothly and in an organised way. The rules can cover how the government’s immigration policies, including policies about living in New Zealand, will work under the new law. These instructions are officially approved under section 22 of the new Immigration Act 2009.
