14Functions of Director-General of Emergency Management
The functions of the Director-General of Emergency Management are to—
- identify hazards and risks that the Director-General considers may be of national significance:
- monitor and evaluate the national emergency management strategy:
- develop, monitor, and evaluate the national emergency management plan:
- develop, in consultation with the relevant persons and organisations that have responsibilities under this Act, any guidelines, codes, or technical standards that may be required for the purposes of this Act:
- monitor the performance of Emergency Management Committees and persons who have responsibilities under this Act:
- promote emergency management that is consistent with the purpose of this Act:
- keep the Minister informed, and provide advice, about any situation in which there is an imminent threat of an emergency:
- during a state of national emergency or a national transition period, direct and control for the purposes of this Act the resources available for emergency management:
- monitor and enforce compliance with this Act:
- perform any other functions that are conferred or imposed on the Director-General by or under this Act or any other enactment:
- perform any functions that are incidental and related to, or consequential on, the Director-General’s functions in paragraphs (a) to (j).
