Illustration for Emergency Management Bill (No 2)

You are part of a multi-member Emergency Management Committee. At meetings, you must follow certain rules called standing orders. These rules are from the Local Government Act 2002. You can agree to follow different rules if most of the committee members agree. Most means three-quarters of the members at the meeting. These new rules must not go against other laws. The Local Government Act 2002 and other laws still apply to your committee. You can look at clause 27 of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002 for more information. This helps you understand the rules for your Emergency Management Committee.
