Illustration for Emergency Management Bill (No 2)

The Minister has to review the national emergency management strategy within 10 years of it starting. You will see changes to the strategy after a review, or the Minister may decide not to change it. The Minister must follow a procedure set out in section 79 to amend or replace the strategy. If the Minister decides not to change the strategy, they must publish their reasons on a website. You can find the reasons on an internet site maintained by the Director-General. The Minister must do this if they decide to keep the strategy the same. The Minister has options after reviewing the strategy, including amending or replacing it, or deciding not to change it. You will see the Minister's decision after they review the national emergency management strategy. The procedure for amending or replacing the strategy is set out in section 79.
