This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

The Minister can decide to end a national transition period. You will know this has happened when the Minister makes a declaration. The Minister or someone they authorise can also end a local transition period. The Minister must talk to certain groups before ending a local transition period. This includes Emergency Management Committees and mayors of affected local authorities. They can choose how to do this. Sometimes the Minister does not have to talk to these groups. This could be because it is not practical or because the situation is urgent. When a declaration is made to end a transition period, it ends straight away.
