This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Emergency Management Bill (No 2)

Schedule 3: Essential infrastructure providers

You could also call this:

"Important services like power, water, and transport that keep New Zealand running"

Illustration for Emergency Management Bill (No 2)

The proposed law lists essential infrastructure providers. You will see a list of companies and organisations. They provide important services like radio, television, and telecommunications. They also include companies that generate or distribute electricity, gas, and petroleum products. You will also see companies that operate airports, like Auckland and Wellington International Airports. Some port companies are listed, like those in Auckland and Lyttelton. Other essential services include rail and road transport, and companies that supply water, stormwater, and wastewater services. These companies are considered essential because they provide important services to the public. The list is part of a proposed change to the law, as outlined in section 7. It also refers to other laws, like the Telecommunications Act 2001 and the Airport Authorities Act 1966.
