"What special words mean in this law"

When you read this part of the law, some words have special meanings. The term "harmful interference" means what it says in section 2(1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1989. The term "interference" also has a meaning given in section 2(1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1989.

You need to know what "radiocommunications" means too, which is defined in section 2(1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1989. "Unauthorised electronic communication" refers to any electronic communication that breaks the rules stated in section 141A(1)(a). This includes any electronic communication received on a device that a prisoner uses or has in a way that breaks the rules.

The law explains these terms to help you understand what they mean in this context. These meanings apply to this section and to sections 189B and 189C. You can find more information about these terms in the related laws.
