The chief executive makes rules about what property prisoners can have in corrections prisons. They decide what items prisoners can keep or be given. They can also make rules about conditions for having these items.

The Commissioner of Police does the same for Police jails. They make rules about what property prisoners can have and any conditions for having it. You can find out more about how these rules are published by looking at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

These rules are called secondary legislation.
