Illustration for Corrections Act 2004

If you hurt a dog that is used for searching, or if you stop it from doing its job on purpose, you can get in trouble. You might have to go to prison for up to 3 months, or you might have to pay a fine of up to $2,000, or you might have to do both. This rule applies if you do these things without a good reason, and the dog is being used for searching under section 97.
