You could also call this:

"When you go to prison, you get important information about the rules and your rights."

Illustration for Corrections Act 2004

When you arrive at a prison, the prison manager must give you some important information in writing. This information is about how the prison works, the prison's rules made under section 33, and the rules about what property you are allowed to have made under section 45A. You will also be told about your entitlements as a prisoner, what behaviour is against the rules under sections 128 to 131, and how to make a complaint.

If you are from another country, the prison manager must also tell you that you can ask them to inform your country's representative that you are being held in prison. You will also be told that any letters you write to your country's representative will be sent to them without delay.

The prison manager must try to give you this information in a way that you can understand, using a language and format that is suitable for you.
