Corrections Act 2004

Corrections system - Establishment and operation of prisons - Detention and custody of prisoners

36: Police station deemed Police jail for certain purposes

You could also call this:

"Police station is treated like a jail when you're held there"

When you are held at a Police station under section 35, the Police station is treated as a Police jail. The constable in charge of the station is then considered the prison manager, as defined in the Corrections Act 2004. This means the constable has the same responsibilities as a prison manager while you are being held there.
