Corrections Act 2004

Corrections system - Establishment and operation of prisons - Work and earnings

68: Application of money

You could also call this:

"How prisoners' earnings are used to pay for things they need"

If you are a prisoner, any money you earn may be used to pay for certain things. The chief executive decides how the money is used. You can use the money to pay for things like expenses related to your job or self-employment outside the prison. The money can also be used to pay for the cost of your detention when you are allowed to work outside the prison, as long as it does not exceed the weekly rate set by the Minister. You can use the money to support your dependants, or to prepare for your release from prison.
