You know that the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 sets up a group called the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers. This group is like a person and can do things on its own. It has its own identity and can make decisions. You can think of the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers as a body that can act like a person. It can do things that a person can do, like make agreements and own property. It can also do things that it is allowed to do under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 or other laws. The New Zealand Society of Conveyancers can only use its powers to do its job, it cannot do things for other reasons.
