197: Applicants in other cases

"Who can ask for a review of a Standards Committee's decision?"

You can apply for a review of a Standards Committee's decision if you are the New Zealand Law Society or the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers. You can also apply if you have permission from the New Zealand Law Society, the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers, or the Legal Complaints Review Officer. You do this under section 193. You cannot review a Standards Committee's order to send a complaint to the Tribunal. This rule does not affect other parts of the law, like section 205. This means you must follow the rules in section 205 as well. If a Standards Committee makes a decision, you might be able to apply for a review under section 193, but only in certain cases.
