You need to follow some rules about making rules for lawyers and conveyancers. These rules are made by the New Zealand Law Society or the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers. The Minister must approve these rules and certain people must be asked for their thoughts before the rules are made. You are part of the group that must be asked for thoughts if you are a lawyer or conveyancer. The Minister can also ask other people or groups for their thoughts. The rules must be made after the Minister has approved them and the necessary people have been asked for their thoughts. The Minister's approval and the thoughts of the necessary people are required before the rules can be made, as stated in section 81(2)(a).
