The Legal Complaints Review Officer can ask a Standards Committee to explain how they handled a complaint. You can think of a Standards Committee like a group that looks into complaints about lawyers or conveyancers. The Legal Complaints Review Officer can also ask for records or documents about a complaint. The Legal Complaints Review Officer can make further inquiries into a complaint or how it was handled. They can look into any part of a complaint that they think needs more investigation. The Legal Complaints Review Officer has the same powers as a Standards Committee when they are investigating a complaint. The Legal Complaints Review Officer can request information from a Standards Committee or an investigator. This includes asking for the reasons behind a final decision made by a Standards Committee. They can also ask for copies of records or documents related to a complaint.
