The Disciplinary Tribunal has many jobs. You can think of it like a court that deals with lawyers and conveyancers who may have done something wrong. The Tribunal hears and decides on applications and charges against these professionals. The Tribunal can hear applications to suspend a practitioner while a charge is being decided. You can also appeal to the Tribunal if you are not happy with a decision made by someone else. The Tribunal can make rules about how it works, as long as those rules are consistent with the Act. The Tribunal's jobs include hearing applications to restore someone's name to the roll of lawyers or conveyancers. It can also hear applications to revoke an order made against someone. The Tribunal can decide if a practitioner or firm can employ someone who has been suspended or had their name removed from the roll. The Tribunal has other jobs too, like performing functions given to it by the Act or other laws. It can hear and decide on applications made under sections like section 246, section 247, and section 42. The Tribunal can also hear applications made under section 248 and decide on applications related to orders made under section 242(1)(h).
