70Constitution of New Zealand Law Society
The New Zealand Law Society must have a constitution that provides for—
- a Council of the New Zealand Law Society and the powers of the Council; and
- the ways in which persons become members of the New Zealand Law Society; and
- the ways in which persons cease to be members of the New Zealand Law Society; and
- the summoning and holding of general meetings of the New Zealand Law Society, and the method of voting at those meetings; and
- a president and 1 or more vice-presidents of the Council; and
- an Executive Board of the New Zealand Law Society; and
- the appointment by the Council of an executive director of the New Zealand Law Society, who may be a member of the Council; and
- the amendment and replacement of the constitution.
In addition to the provisions required by subsection (1), the constitution may contain any other provisions that are not inconsistent with this Act or any other Act or any rule of law.
