You need to follow certain rules if you are a lawyer. The New Zealand Law Society makes practice rules for lawyers. These rules say that the Society must give practising certificates to people who are barristers or barristers and solicitors. You might have to keep learning about the law to be a lawyer. The practice rules can say how often you need to do this and what you need to learn. The rules can also say that you must do specific legal education, or that you must follow certain requirements. The practice rules can also say that some lawyers do not have to follow these rules. You can find more information by looking at the law from 1986. The New Zealand Law Society makes these rules to help lawyers do their jobs well.
