141: Notice to person to whom complaint or inquiry relates

You could also call this:

"Someone complains about you: what happens next"

Illustration for Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006

You get a notice if someone complains about you. The Standards Committee sends you details of the complaint and asks you to explain in writing. They can also ask you to appear before them to explain. You might get a written notice asking for specific information. The Standards Committee can request this information from you in writing. They do this to help them look into the complaint. The Standards Committee has rules to follow when dealing with complaints, as seen in the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 and similar laws like the 1982 No 123 s 101(3)(a), (b), (e).
