89G: Other restrictions on application of exemptions

You could also call this:

"Rules for when child support exemptions stop working"

You need to know about some rules for when exemptions stop working for child support. These exemptions are special cases where someone doesn't have to pay child support for a while.

If you're in the hospital, your exemption stops when you leave the hospital. If you're sick, your exemption stops when you're not sick anymore. If you're in prison, your exemption stops when you get out of prison. If you're under 16, your exemption stops when you turn 16.

Your exemption also stops if you're not eligible for it anymore, no matter when that happens.

There are some rules about when you can apply for an exemption. If you apply for a hospital exemption after you've left the hospital, it won't work for any time before September 26, 2006. If you apply for a sickness exemption after you're better, it won't work for any time before October 26, 2021. If you apply for an under-16 exemption after you've turned 16, it won't work for any time before September 26, 2006.

Remember, these rules are part of New Zealand's child support laws to make sure exemptions are used fairly.
