Child Support Act 1991

Exemptions - Determinations in relation to exemptions for hospital patients, persons suffering from long-term periods of illness, prisoners, and persons under 16 years

89O: Reasons for determination

You could also call this:

“Commissioner must explain why they made a decision about an exemption”

When the Commissioner makes a decision about an exemption under this part of the law, they must tell everyone involved why they made that decision. They need to write down the reasons and give them to all the parties.

If the Commissioner forgets to give the reasons or makes a mistake when giving them, it doesn’t mean the decision is wrong or doesn’t count. The decision is still valid even if the reasons weren’t given properly.
