136: Amounts payable per month and per day

When you need to pay child support or domestic maintenance for a month, you figure out how much to pay by dividing the yearly amount by 12. This gives you the monthly amount.

If you want to know how much to pay for each day, you take that monthly amount and divide it by the number of days in that month. For example, if it’s January, you’d divide by 31. If it’s February, you’d divide by 28 (or 29 in a leap year).

136Amounts payable per month and per day

  1. Where child support or domestic maintenance is payable in relation to any month in a child support year, the monthly rate payable is calculated by dividing the annual rate by 12.

  2. The amount of child support or domestic maintenance payable in relation to each day in the child support year is the amount of the monthly rate divided by the number of days in that calendar month.
