262: Expiry of certain suspended child maintenance orders and agreements

“When certain old child support orders and agreements end”

This law is about certain child maintenance orders and agreements that were made before 1 July 1992. These orders and agreements were suspended and couldn’t be enforced because of a rule in the Social Security Act.

If you had a maintenance order that was made before 1 July 1992 and required payments for a child’s maintenance, and it was suspended on 30 June 1992, it will no longer be in force after that date.

The same applies to maintenance agreements. If you had a maintenance agreement that was registered and treated like a maintenance order, and it was suspended on 30 June 1992, it will no longer be registered under the Family Proceedings Act after that date.

This law essentially ends these suspended orders and agreements, so they won’t have any effect after 30 June 1992.
