Child Support Act 1991

Transitional and savings provisions - Enforcement of maintenance liabilities payable before 1 July 1992

260: Savings in respect of assignment of accident compensation

You could also call this:

“Rules for child support payment from accident compensation”

This law is about what happens to accident compensation payments when someone owes child support. Even though another part of the law (section 241) says something different, this rule says that a specific part of the Accident Compensation Act (section 89) doesn’t change how certain parts of the Family Proceedings Act work. These parts of the Family Proceedings Act are about how child support is collected and paid. So, if you’re getting accident compensation and you owe child support from before July 1992, this law makes sure that the rules about collecting that child support still apply, even if they seem to clash with the accident compensation rules.
