216A: Method of application for refund of excess financial support paid

If you want to ask for a refund of extra financial support that you’ve paid, you need to make your request in a specific way. You must follow the rules set out in section 184A of the Tax Administration Act 1994. This tells you how to apply for your refund.

However, you don’t need to follow these rules if all of the money you’re asking to be refunded is going to be moved to another place. This might happen if the refund is being transferred somewhere else, as described in sections 216B to 216D of this law.

216AMethod of application for refund of excess financial support paid

  1. An application under section 216 must be made in the manner required by section 184A of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

  2. Subsection (1) does not apply if all of the refund referred to in section 216(3) is to be transferred under sections 216B to 216D.
