Child Support Act 1991

Transitional and savings provisions - Enforcement of maintenance liabilities payable before 1 July 1992

259: Savings in respect of outstanding maintenance liabilities

You could also call this:

"Rules for collecting unpaid family support money from before July 1992"

This law is about how to deal with unpaid maintenance (money someone was supposed to pay to support their family) from before 1 July 1992. Even though some laws have changed, the old rules still apply to collect this money.

If someone owed maintenance money before 1 July 1992 and hasn't paid it, the government can still use the old rules to make them pay. These old rules are found in different parts of the Family Proceedings Act 1980.

The law also explains what "maintenance order" means. It uses the same meaning as it did in the Family Proceedings Act 1980 before it was changed.

This helps make sure that people who were supposed to pay maintenance in the past can't avoid paying just because the laws have changed.
