Child Support Act 1991

Miscellaneous provisions

Schedule 2: Care cost percentage

You could also call this:

"How much parents pay for child care based on how much time they spend with their child"

This schedule shows how the care cost percentage is calculated based on the proportion of ongoing daily care provided. You can use this table to figure out how much of the care costs you might be responsible for.

If you provide less than 28% of the ongoing daily care, you won't have to pay any care costs. As you provide more care, the percentage you're responsible for increases. For example, if you provide between 28% and 34% of the care, you'll be responsible for 24% of the care costs.

The table includes different ranges of care, going all the way up to 100%. If you provide 73% or more of the ongoing daily care, you'll be responsible for 100% of the care costs. For some ranges in the middle, like 35% to 47%, the care cost percentage increases by 2% for each percentage point over the lower limit.
