Child Support Act 1991

General provisions - Miscellaneous provisions

219: Power of Commissioner in respect of small amounts

You could also call this:

“The government can ignore very small amounts of child support”

The Commissioner can choose not to collect or refund child support in certain situations. This is the case when:

The amount of child support that someone owes is $1 or less.

Or when the amount of child support that someone has paid or had taken from their pay is more than what they actually owe, but the difference is $1 or less.

This rule applies even if other parts of the law say something different.
