Child Support Act 1991

General provisions - Miscellaneous provisions

237: Rounding of amounts

You could also call this:

"How amounts are rounded when calculating child support"

When dealing with money in child support, some amounts need to be rounded to whole dollars. This includes late payment penalties, amounts in the child expenditure table, living allowances, and the minimum yearly rate of child support.

For other amounts mentioned in the law, the Commissioner can choose to round them to a whole dollar or to a part of a dollar.

If an amount ends up being a whole number of dollars plus 50 cents, it should be rounded down to the nearest whole dollar. For example, if an amount is $10.50, it would be rounded down to $10.
