The Board can let you off from following some rules about being a plumber, gasfitter, or drainlayer. They can do this by sending you a written notice, which means you do not have to meet the usual standards to be registered or get a licence. The Board can also exempt a whole group of people from these rules by giving notice, and they can set their own conditions for this exemption. The Board can choose to exempt you from following the terms and conditions that are usually required, as outlined in section 30. They can also exempt a group of people from these terms and conditions. When the Board gives a notice to a group of people, it is considered secondary legislation, which has its own set of rules, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The Board has the power to grant exemptions with any conditions they think are suitable. This means they can decide what rules you need to follow, even if you are exempt from some of the usual requirements. You should be aware of these conditions if you are granted an exemption.
