The Board can create or approve programmes to check or improve your competence in sanitary plumbing, gasfitting, or drainlaying work. You might need to complete one of these programmes if you are applying for a licence, already have a licence, or want to renew your licence. The Board can decide who needs to complete a programme and what the programme requires you to do. You can be required to complete a programme if your registration or licence has conditions that say you must, or if you need to meet a minimum standard for registration. The programme might require you to pass an exam, do practical training, or complete a course of study. The Board can also say how long you have to complete the programme. The Board can choose to exempt you or a group of people from some or all of the programme requirements. They can also decide to publish the programme or exemption, unless it only applies to one or more named people, as explained in the Legislation Act 2019. This means the Board has to follow certain rules when creating or approving programmes and exemptions.
