Biosecurity Act 1993

Functions, powers, and duties - Ministers

8: Responsibilities of responsible Minister

You could also call this:

"The Minister's job is to make sure the Biosecurity Act 1993 is followed and everything runs smoothly."

The responsible Minister is in charge of making sure the Biosecurity Act 1993 is followed. You can think of the Minister as the person who oversees how the Act is put into action. The Minister is responsible for making sure everything runs smoothly, including getting reports about new organisms and dealing with these reports.

The Minister has to co-ordinate how the Act is implemented, which means they have to make sure all the different parts work together. They also have to record and co-ordinate reports of suspected new organisms, and manage how these reports are responded to.

The Minister's responsibilities are not limited by Section 9, which means that Section 9 does not change or reduce what the Minister has to do.
