12B: Regional council provides leadership regionally

You could also call this:

"Regional councils lead the way to stop pests from causing harm in their area."

A regional council helps lead activities to stop or reduce harm from pests in its area. You can think of pests as harmful organisms that can cause problems in New Zealand, and the council works on what is called pest management to prevent this. The council does this by promoting alignment of pest management, helping develop plans, and promoting public support for pest management.

The council also helps people work together to manage pests effectively. This includes facilitating communication and co-operation among those involved in pest management. You can find more information about the laws that guide this work in the Biosecurity Law Reform Act 2012.

The regional council also works with other regions to co-ordinate pest management, which helps prevent the spread of pests across different areas.
