Biosecurity Act 1993

Importation of risk goods - Inspections, declarations, etc

38: Importers' records

You could also call this:

"Keeping track of the goods you bring into New Zealand"

If you import goods, you must keep records about them. These records must be kept in a way that follows the regulations, which can say things like what kind of importer you are, what kind of goods you are importing, and what kind of records you need to keep. The regulations can also say how you must keep the records and for how long.

You can find out what kind of importer you are by looking at the definition in section 2A. The regulations will help you understand what records you need to keep and how to keep them.

If an inspector asks to see your records, you must make them available during the time you are required to keep them.
