Biosecurity Act 1993

Surveillance and prevention

43: Duty to provide information

You could also call this:

"Tell authorities what you know to help keep New Zealand pest-free"

When someone is checking for pests or unwanted organisms, you might be asked to help. You may need to provide information about pests, pest agents, unwanted organisms, or risk goods if you have it. You could be asked to give assistance to help the inspector or authorised person get the information they need. You might be asked for help if you own or control something that could give them the information they need. This could be because you own or control an organism, organic material, or risk goods that they want to check. If you are asked, you will need to provide the information and help that the inspector or authorised person reasonably requests, so they can find out if there are pests or unwanted organisms in New Zealand.
