Biosecurity Act 1993

Exigency actions

147: House of Representatives must be informed

You could also call this:

"The Minister must inform the House of Representatives about big biosecurity decisions, like making or ending emergencies, and explain why."

The Minister has to tell the House of Representatives when a Proclamation is made under section 144. You need to know that the Minister also has to inform the House if they plan to extend or end a biosecurity emergency. When the Minister informs the House, they must give reasons for their decision. The Minister must tell the House as soon as possible, either right away if the House is meeting, or at the next meeting if it is not sitting. In this case, the House refers to the House of Representatives.
