Biosecurity Act 1993

Surveillance and prevention

52: Communication of pest or unwanted organism

You could also call this:

"Don't spread pests or unwanted organisms unless you have special permission"

You must not spread pests or unwanted organisms on purpose. You can do this if you are following a pest management plan. You can also do this if it is allowed under an emergency regulation made under section 150, or if you have permission from the Minister for a scientific purpose, or if a chief technical officer says it is okay.

You are only allowed to spread pests or unwanted organisms in these special situations. This means you need to be careful and make sure you are allowed to do it. If you are not sure, you should check the rules.

If you want to spread pests or unwanted organisms for a scientific purpose, you need to get permission from the Minister. A chief technical officer can also give you permission to do this. You must follow the rules and make sure you are allowed to spread pests or unwanted organisms.
