Biosecurity Act 1993

Administrative provisions - Automated electronic systems

142G: Effect of use of system

You could also call this:

"What happens when you use a computer system to follow the Biosecurity Act rules"

If you use an automated electronic system to do something, this section applies to you. You do something allowed or required by the Biosecurity Act using the system, it is treated as if you did it properly. The action is not invalid just because the system did it, as long as you follow the rules in section 142F(3).

If you use the system to do something allowed or required by another law, and you follow the rules in that law about using automated electronic systems, it is treated as if you did it properly. The action is not invalid just because the system did it, as long as you follow the rules in that law and section 142F(3). You can still do the action yourself if the system gets it wrong.

If the system makes a mistake, you can still do the action yourself, as long as you are the right person to do it, as referred to in section 142F(3). The system's mistake does not stop you from doing the action properly. You can fix the mistake by doing the action yourself.
