Biosecurity Act 1993

Preliminary

7C: Public notice of decision to exempt action

You could also call this:

"Telling the public about a decision to exempt an action to control pests or diseases"

When a decision is made under section 7A or 7B, the Minister in charge must tell the public about it. The Minister can choose how to give public notice of the decision. You will be able to find out about the decision through this public notice.

The public notice must include some important details, such as the type of organism that needs to be eradicated or managed. It must also say what the main actions will be to try to eradicate or manage the organism. The notice will tell you which areas are affected by these actions.

If the Minister forgets to follow the rules for giving public notice, it does not change the decision that was made under section 7A or 7B. This means the exemption given under section 7A or 7B is still valid, even if the Minister made a mistake with the public notice.
